Tyres & Exhausts

We can now supply and fit tyres on request at varying prices and quality levels to suit you and your wallet. Tyres are made from a rubber based material with metal re-enforced side walls. The pattern on the tyre is designed to allow good friction and water dispersion in wet conditions. Tyres that have an advance pattern design and are made with exotic materials have a better performance and durability. Correct tyre pressure and tyre tread will directly affect the performance of the tyre.

The Law

UK law requires that your vehicle is fitted with the correct type and size of tyre for the vehicle type you are driving and for the purpose it is being used. This means fitting the right tyres and for safety ensuring that they are inflated to the manufacturer's recommended pressure. The legal limit for minimum depth of the tread on your tyres is 1.6 millimetres, across the central ¾ of the tread around the complete circumference of the tyre. For safety reasons it is recommended that you replace your tyres before the legal limit is reached.

How do I check what size Tyre is on my Car?

The tyre size is written on the side wall of the tyre. It is normally written in three groups of numbers followed by a letter. They correspond to Tyre Width / Aspect Ratio / Diameter / Speed Rating. An example of this is: 195/65/15V. Some vehicles have a different size tyre at the front and rear of the car. Manufacturers design the car to run on specific size and rated tyres, so for best performance ensure the right tyre is fitted to your car.

Uneven Tyre Wear

Tyres not filled to the correct pressures will cause uneven wear to a tyre. Also the wheel alignment of the vehicle can cause uneven wear. This is why it is always best to have your wheel alignment checked and adjusted when you fit new tyres on your vehicle. Tyres are an important part of your vehicle as they are the only contact between you and the road.
